Japanese, Russian FMs meet over mutual relations talks


(MENAFN) Japan’s and Russia’s foreign ministers talked over phone regarding two-sided ties and local problems.

According to Japanese Foreign Ministry report, Hayashi Yoshimasa stated that he gives "great importance" to Japanese and Russian ties and will switch opinions with Sergey Lavrov for "developing overall bilateral relations in a mutually beneficial manner in a broad range of fields, such as politics, economy, and culture, including the issue of concluding a peace treaty."

Both ministers discussed a peace agreement, mutual economic activities on the Four Northern Islands, economy, interpersonal interactions, and safety.

Hayashi and Lavrov also exchanged views regarding local issues, as well as Ukraine and Belarus, and North Korean nuclear and missile activities.
