Katara to launch operetta 'Folktale' to coincide with FIFA Arab Cup-Qatar


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation Katara announced the launch of an operetta entitled 'A Folktale in Love of the Nation', as part of the activities coinciding with the start of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which will be held from November 30 to December 18.

The operetta includes three lyrical performances, the first urging the girls to play the rattlesnake game, the second show will be a dialogue between the grandfather and his grandchildren, in which he urges them to play popular games instead of immersing themselves in electronic games. It will be concludes with the folk song 'Taq Taq Taqiyya', while the third show includes urging children to pay attention to sports.

The performances conclude with the song 'Ya Marhaba ' to welcome the guests of Qatar from Arab countries participating in the tournament. This song was written by the poet Hussein Al Bakri and produced by musician Walid Aba Al-Qassem.The operetta is written and directed by artist Shuail Al-Kuwari, and the lyrics are by the poet Hessa Al-Awadi. A selection of children and young artists will participate in it.

It is noteworthy that the duration of the operetta is 25 minutes, as it includes a puppet theatre, as it is the most attractive to children, as well as show scenes, inspired by folk songs from the heritage. The operetta, directed by artist Shuail Al-Kuwari, will be performed each Thursday and Friday during the period from December 2 to 17.
