Ukraine - Government launches Bureau of Economic Security


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Cabinet of Ministers has launched the work of the Bureau of Economic Security.

The corresponding resolution of November 24 was published on the Government portal, Ukrinform reports.

'To agree with a proposal of the Bureau of Economic Security to launch its activities and the possibility of the said Bureau to perform functions and tasks to combat offenses that encroach on the functioning of the state economy,' reads the document.

As reported, the law on the Bureau of Economic Security was approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on January 28, 2021. On May 12, the Cabinet of Ministers established the Bureau of Economic Security, which is tasked with combating offenses in the economic sector.

Director of the Bureau of Economic Security, Vadym Melnyk has sent for approval to the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Digital Transformation a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers 'On the launch of the Bureau of Economic Security.'

According to an updated Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies between Ukraine and International Monetary Fund, the Bureau for Economic Security of Ukraine will start operating by the end of December 2021.
