Turkey: Cyprus federation talks end with no results


(MENAFN) On Thursday, Nov. 25 Turkish representative in Lefkosa reported, debates for a federal model on Cyprus concluded with unsuccessful discussions in Crans-Montana, Switzerland back in 2017.

Ali Murat Basceri, ambassador, declared in an innovative celebration in the Guzelyurt province of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), “The federation subject was closed in Crans-Montana.”

He further mentioned that there won’t be federation discussions regarding Cyprus any longer, however, discussions will be conducted on the way both nations will exist together on the island.

Emphasizing that the one who left discussions in Crans-Montana was the Greek Cypriot party, and Basceri remarked that Turkey pursued with its political efforts in the Swiss city under the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s rule.
