EU health organization cautions of worsening Covid-19 conditions

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, the head of the EU’s public health organization cautioned that the Covid-19 condition is going to worsen in the European Union in the upcoming two months except if the alliance presents new procedures and lifts the inoculation rate.

Based on the recent modeling scenarios from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the delta variant spread is going to force a high load on European communities unless governments present firmer public health procedures and raise vaccination of the whole population.

Andrea Ammon, ECDC Director declared in a statement, “there are still too many individuals at risk of severe COVID-19 infection whom we need to protect as soon as possible. We need to urgently focus on closing this immunity gap, offer booster doses to all adults, and reintroduce non-pharmaceutical measures.”

She stated that about 70 percent of the bloc’s adult population has been immunized which “gives ample room for the virus to spread,” and called on governments to contact people who have not been immunized ahead of the winter festive season.
