(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 24 (Petra) -- The Higher Committee of Public-Private Partnership is set to floated two tenders, one for a project to develop and build 15 schools for the Ministry of Education, according to the new school building codes, while the other for the construction of new buildings and cargo and passenger yards for the new land border crossing of the King Hussein Bridge, which are included in the government's 2021-2023 economic work priorities program.
The committee will announce tenders documents before the end of this year.
The announcement was made in a meeting held Wednesday at the Prime Ministry and chaired by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh, in the presence of all committee members, to discuss projects that will be implemented by the PPP Projects Unit during the coming period.
The schools project constitute a leading project that reflects the partnership between the public and private sectors, to build 15 public schools in the governorates of Amman, Zarqa and Madaba.
The second project, on the other hand, aims to construct entirely new buildings and yards for King Hussein Bridge to serve as an alternative to the existing facilities and to meet modern international standards such as sufficient capacity, ease of use, and scalability for expansion, to accommodate the increased passengers and cargo traffic, reduce the time period for transportation, travel and cargo procedures and raise efficiency and speed of inspections and detections.
During the meeting, Shraideh stressed the importance of moving forward with the implementation of PPP projects, in line with the government's economic work priorities program, which aims to stimulate the economy and improve citizens' standard of living by generating job opportunities, stimulating growth, and increasing exports.
The Director of the PPP Projects Unit in the Prime Ministry briefed the meeting on the PPP projects, the implementation procedures of which will be proceeded during the coming period, highlighting next steps and the expected duration of these projects.
