Jordan - Investment minister, Hungary FM talk cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 24 (Petra)-- Minister of Investment, Khairy Amr, on Wednesday held a meeting with Hungary Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance investment and economic cooperation between the two countries, and the need to exert more efforts to push forward and promote the two countries' economic and investment ties.
Amr highlighted key competitive advantages of the investment environment, targeted investment sectors and promising opportunities in Jordan, which constitute an opportunity for the Hungarian investor, especially in the field of information and communications technology, medicine and tourism, as well as major steps taken by the Jordanian government to grant facilities to investors and prepare a business environment.
Amr stressed the Ministry of Investment's keenness to support Hungarian investments and provide all means of support to motivate Hungarian investment companies and institutions to direct their investments to Jordan in many diverse sectors.
He said that Jordan is interested in developing its investment and trade relations with Hungary by exchanging visits between investors and businessmen, activating and developing the volume of intra-regional trade between the two countries and promoting the Kingdom as a distinguished tourist destination.
For his part, Minister Szijjarto reaffirmed his country's desire to enhance economic, investment and trade cooperation with the Kingdom, due to its economic stability, in addition to the available investment opportunities.
He pointed out that Hungarian companies recognize the importance to the Jordanian market and the growing surrounding markets, which creates opportunities for Hungarian and Jordanian companies to enhance mutual cooperation.
'We will work on arranging a visit for the Hungarian business sector to Jordan and hold meetings with Jordanian private sector companies to explore joint benefits and increase trade and investment exchange visits between the two countries,' Szijjarto said.
The Hungarian minister touched on objectives of his visit to Jordan, during which several agreements in the field of education, water and double taxation were signed, as well as announcing the resumption of flights between Jordan and Hungary as of next month, in order to enhance tourism exchange between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two ministers agreed on preparing a memorandum of cooperation between the two sides in order to raise their level of cooperation and coordination in the fields of attracting investments, promoting investment opportunities and exchanging expertise.
The meeting was attended by officials from both sides.
