Qatar - Indian apex bodies to organise community carnival on Friday


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Indian Sports Centre, in association with three other Apex Bodies - Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) and Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), is organising a carnival for the community in honour of the host nation.
“As you are aware, the one-year countdown for the 2022 FIFA World Cup began on November 21. This date is being celebrated by the Indian community with a carnival festival. The event will be held at the Ideal Indian School grounds on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 5pm to 10pm. It is going to be a vibrant and unique event,” ISC officials said at a press conference held today.
Qatari dignitaries, Ambassadors from various countries, officials from the Indian Embassy, and citizens from other countries living in Qatar are expected to grace the occasion. The event will be inaugurated by Dr Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India at 7pm.
There will be Indian music and dance programmes, showcasing of traditional Indian sports, a football shootout event with attractive prizes, face painting, football jugglers, magic show, laser and fireworks.
“This will be a one-of kind event, dedicated to the football world and football fans in Qatar, particularly our host nation. The event will demonstrate the support of Indian diaspora for Qatar as the host country for the upcoming FIFA Games,” officials added.
Members of the Indian Doctors Club (IDC), United Nurses of India - Qatar (UNIQ), and Federation of Indian Nurses Qatar (FINQ) will be present at the event and they will strictly enforce the Ministry of Public Health rules and regulations for Covid-19 protection. There will also be a facility to provide antigen testing for children who have not been vaccinated. The main entrance to the event venue (Ideal Indian School, Abu Hamour) will be through Gate No. 6, and entry for families through Gate No. 4.
The Indian Community Carnival event was officially announced today in a press conference presided over by Dr Mohan Thomas, President of Indian Sports Centre.
