Humanitarian situation in Marib, Yemen deteriorates

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, various humanitarian agencies stated that the humanitarian state in Marib, Yemen, is deteriorating day by day, with over 45,000 individuals escaping their residences as the Iran-supported Houthi rebels move forward with their attack to take over Yemen's southern city.

The fight for Marib started in February and has deepened in latest weeks, with Houthi advances in the gas and oil-producing area, and intensified air aerial attacks by the Saudi Arabia-ran coalition to frighten them.

The UN migration agency's Yemen chief representative, Christa Rottensteiner stated, "we've not witnessed this much desperation in Marib in the last two years as we have in the last two months."

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) stated that it expects no less than a tenfold surge in immigration.
