(MENAFN) The Iraqi military has rejected reports regarding prolonging the date for the removal of US combat armies from the nation.
Spokesman of the Joint Operations Command, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, reported to the official Iraqi News Agency that “the date for the departure of (US) combat forces on Dec. 31 is fixed and there is no change.”
In July Baghdad and Washington consented to remove US military from Iraq towards the end of this current year. However, an unidentified number of US militaries would continue to counsel and train Iraqi armies.
Al-Khafaji stated, "the relationship between the two sides after the departure of the combat forces will be an advisory relationship, in the fields of training, armament, intelligence, and security against the Daesh/ISIS terror group.”
