Biman reinstates flights to Saudi Arabia from May 29

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : The national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh airlines resumed flight services to Saudi Arabia from May 29, after nine days of flight suspension on the said route.
The airline made the announcement on May 23.
On May 20, Biman suspended flight operations to three destinations in Saudi Arabia - Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah - following the issuance of a new travel advisory by the Saudi Civil Aviation authority which state all arriving passengers before arrival must ensure health insurance to cover coronavirus treatment cost and reserve hotels for seven-day quarantine through the respective airlines.
The airline operates 18 flights a week to these destinations.
After the issuance of the new travel advisory by Saudi authorities, Biman suspended flight operations on the route for nine days to manage hotels in the meantime.
"Apart from that, there is a condition to give the passenger list four days before the start of the flight. That is also the reason for temporarily suspending flights to Saudi Arabia," a spokesperson for Biman claimed.
Saudi Arabia is the largest expatriate income market for Bangladesh. At least 26 lac expatriates are working in different sectors in the country.
Biman has requested its passengers to contact its nearby offices regarding hotel bookings and fixing post-suspension journey schedules from May 24.
