Aqaba's Ayla Oasis witnessing 'active' tourist movement-CEO

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Aqaba, Nov. 6 (Petra)- Ayla Oasis in the port city of Aqaba is witnessing an "active" tourism movement and activities, in conjunction with the government's launch of its "safe summer" plan, which contributed to promoting tourism and trade in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).
In a press statement on Saturday, CEO of Ayla Oasis Development Company, Eng. Sahel Dudin, said Ayla Oasis achieved "distinguished" performance indicators in attracting local and foreign tourism.
This achievement was made thanks to activities of ASEZA's Al Hawa Janoubi's "The Wind is Southern" campaign to activate tourism in Jordan's Golden Triangle, covering the destinations of Aqaba, Wadi Rum and Petra, he said.
This tourism recovery was evident by the increase in the number of visitors to Ayla Oasis since the beginning of last July to end of October, he said.
Ayla's Al Marsa Village received more than 136,000 visitors, a record increase over the same period last year, he added.
Dudin praised the government's efforts over the past months, which succeeded in achieving a safe summer, according to a three-phase plan that began in early June and ended last September.
Government efforts have contributed to a gradual and safe return to the tourism sector, and with the announcement of the Golden Triangle as a "green" area, according to Dudin.
Ayla Oasis is currently preparing to move to "new" stages in attracting tourism and promoting the national tourist product, he said.
Dudin stressed that Ayla Oasis will continue to adhere to "strict" health protocols to protect visitors and employees, in conjunction with the resumption of tourism and recreational activity in its various venues.
An integrated package of programs and activities covering the upcoming winter season will be announced, he noted.
