Doha: Richard Tallant, Executive Vice-President of GTL for Shell and Managing Director of Shell Qatar Companies recently visited the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) accompanied by Rashid Al Sulaiti, Deputy General Manager of Qatar Shell Pearl GTL and other stakeholders.

The visit comes as an extension of the strong partnership between Qatar Shell and CNA-Q, and following the MoU that was signed between both entities beginning this year.

Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of CNA-Q, discussed with Tallant the College's plans to grow into the first National Applied University in addition to the College's extensive research plan and development activities. A wide range of collaboration opportunities were agreed on especially around Sustainable Development and Innovation. Both parties agreed on leveraging the R & D expertise in this partnership and linking Qatar Shell Technology and Research Centre to explore joint research opportunities focused on the sustainable development field.

Tallant said:“Sustainability at Shell is about delivering energy in the most responsible way to meet the world's growing needs. We look forward to address and prioritise programs that foster academia and industry-led partnerships as we continue to raise awareness around clean energy".

During the visit, Qatar Shell sponsored students who are pursuing their studies under the Technician Certificate Program, along with the CNA-Q faculty, welcomed Tallant into their School and discussed the unique student-centred approach that the College adopts to provide them with the hands-on skills they need at the workplace.

Al Naemi added:“We welcome our partners to a College that is constantly seeking strategic development. Our strength lies in such partnerships that help us keep our curriculums aligned to the latest industry needs and economic trends. We focus on experiential and applied learning in technology-rich classrooms, workshops, laboratories, and simulated environments. We are pleased to host the Qatar Shell team in our premises and we appreciate their support to our young and talented students".
