Lebanon to not give up its oil, gas wealth in indirect border demarcation talks with Israel

(MENAFN) According to a statement by Lebanon's Presidency, Lebanese President Michel Aoun declared that Lebanon is not going to give up its oil and gas wealth in indirect border demarcation discussions with Israel.

The Lebanese should not be worried about the selection of the new US mediator in the discussions between Lebanon and Israel, Aoun said.

The selection of Israel-born Amos Hochstein as new mediator increased worries among the Lebanese about the fairness and neutrality of discussions.

Lebanon and Israel launched talks through a US mediator in Oct. 2020 at the U.N. peacekeeper's base in Lebanon's Naqoura but discussions delayed later on.
