Easier Online II hackathon is looking for startups developing solutions that help reduce migration from Upper Egypt

(MENAFN- Mid-East.Info) The Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt, and Seedstars are teaming up for the Easier Online II hackathon which aims to promote and empower entrepreneurs creating solutions that will help mitigate the need for migration from Upper Egypt's governorates of Faiyum, Assiut, Luxor, and Qena.

Interested applicants can sign up before November 18, 2021: Online II invites entrepreneurs in these governorates who have practical, sustainable, and scalable ideas to participate in the virtual hackathon. Participants will receive support and mentorship to further develop their ideas, pitch them in front of a jury panel, and have the chance to be among 5 winners who will benefit from cash prizes, a 3-month follow-on support program, and access to mentors and experts via the Seedstars Mentorship Hub.

While last year's edition of the program focused on sourcing technology solutions that help enable digital & financial inclusion, this years' hackathon will be tackling another pressing problem in the country, migration from the Northern Governorates, mainly into Cairo.

“We are very excited to see the ideas that will be put forth by the participants in this year's edition. We believe that local entrepreneurship outside Cairo can lead to successful economic development and job creation, thereby mitigating the factors that lead to migration from these areas into the capital.” Elsa Abi Raad, Program Manager.

In a partnership between The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Egypt and Seedstars, the hackathon will be choosing 25 top applicants who will go through the intensive 5-day virtual hackathon that includes workshops, webinars, and mentorship.

On the last day of the event, participants will pitch their ideas and 5 winners will be selected to receive follow-on support over 3 months to help them scale their operations in Upper Egypt and access funding.

To join the Easier Online II hackathon, participants must meet the following criteria: 1) Submitted ideas should show a clear impact on reducing the need for migration from the governorates of Faiyum, Assiut, Luxor and Qena, by promoting economic development, job creation, and opportunities.
2) Applicants with innovative ideas can apply individually or as a team.
