Elon Musk’s Boring company gets the green light for its biggest project. Nevada’s Clark County on Wednesday approved plans for the Vegas Loop. Vegas Loop will be a 29-mile network of tunnels underneath the Las Vegas Strip.
The Boring Company would be able to expand its Vegas Loop system beyond its current 1.7-mile footprint. It connects the Las Vegas Convention Center campus to a 29-mile route with 51 stations. Tunnels include stops at casinos along the Las Vegas Strip, the city’s football stadium, and UNLV if Clark County officials approve a special use permit and franchise agreement. It will eventually make its way to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. The clearance was initially reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The main aim of the company is to cut down traffic in the cities. Therefore, they are building underground roadways serviced by fleets of Tesla vehicles. Musk’s earlier plans were for van-sized Teslas capable of self-driving, but the business is currently focusing on conventional Teslas with human drivers. Critics say the tunnel systems are nothing more than a less efficient version of a subway.

The passengers will be able to travel directly to their destination without stopping at each station along the way, informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The Loop will not have funds from taxpayers. According to the site, the Boring Company will pay for construction and a quarterly charge to the county depending on how much money it makes from fares. The project, which has been in the works for several years, is a huge triumph for The Boring Company, whose aspirations for other cities including Los Angeles and Chicago never materialised.
It’s also a triumph for the rest of Musk’s ecosystem. It will necessitate a huge fleet of Tesla vehicles and expose thousands of potential buyers to electric automobiles. In addition, the tunneling company is in talks to create a transit system in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
