Al Wakrah yesterday rallied from a goal down to stun Al Duhail 4-1 in their rescheduled match of the QNB Stars League (QSL) at the Al Wakrah Stadium. It is first defeat of the season for Al Duhail, who registered six straight victories in their first six matches.

Al Wakrah's points tally swelled to eight following their second victory. It was a brilliant fightback by Al Wakrah after Almoez Ali put Al Duhail ahead in the 29th minute. Jacinto Dala (45th and 69th minutes), Mohamed Benyettou (61st minute) and Hazem Shehata (88th minute) scored the goals for Al Wakrah.

The game was postponed due to the health measures that prevented Al Duhail players from participating in training and matches, as many of them and technical staff were affected with the coronavirus (Covid-19). Almoez gave Al Duhail the lead around the half hour with a placing shot off a cross from the right by Ismail Mohammed.

Al Wakrah had to wait for the equaliser till the last minute of first half when Dala found the mark after playing a 1-2 with Benyettou. Algerian forward Benyettou himself got into the scoring act by finishing off a fast move with a shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Mohammed Al Bakri. It was Dala's turn again to score and he produced an opportunistic strike to make it 3-1.

Hazem rounded off the tally with a long-range rising shot towards the close of regular time.
