First-ever TEDx Doha Institute held

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The first TEDx at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was held Thursday on the theme 'Celebrating our Diversity.' The day-long event featured nine speakers – students, alumnus and members of the wider community. Asmaa Alhamadi was the host. All speakers gave short presentations on inspiring young people to achieve their dreams. Student Affairs dean Dr Ibrahim Freihat stressed the importance of such events with a universal dimension. “This event comes within the framework of providing an opportunity for young people to develop, motivate, and continue refining their talents, and inspire the community by exchanging ideas and discussing problems, aspirations and experiences with a modern vision,” he observed.
The speakers were DI students Fatma Lulu, Faozi Alghuwaidi, Ghizlane Hanane, Mwaffaq Alhajjar, Anas Abu Samhan, Mohammad al-Kaabi, and guests Dr Anwar Dafa Allah, Bouchra Sebbata, Dr Ghizlane Bendriss.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
