Doha: The designated authorities referred 244 people to the prosecution for Covid-19 precautionary measure violations on October 17.
243 were reported for not wearing masks, while one were referred to prosecution for not installing the Ehteraz app.
The measures are in line with the Cabinet decision on gradually lifting Covid-19 restrictions announced last week; all citizens and residents must continue to wear masks in closed public places.
However, wearing masks are not obligated in open public places except when visiting organized public activities in markets, exhibitions, and during events. Masks are also required on the premises of mosques, schools, universities, and hospitals.
"In line with the cabinet decision based on Law No. 17 of 1990 regarding infectious diseases, the competent authorities referred several people to the Prosecution for violating COVID19 preventive and precautionary measures in force," Ministry said in a statement.
"The competent authorities urge the public to adhere to the precautionary and preventive decisions in force to protect them and others from the spread of the Coronavirus in society," the statement added.
