(MENAFN) On Friday, Oct. 15 data issued by the Commerce Department showed that US retail trade surged steeply last month.
Retail sales stood at USD625.4 billion, a rise by 0.7 percent from a revised level of USD620.9 billion in August.
While analysts projected a 0.2 percent decrease on a monthly level, the data in August was changed from a rise of 0.7 percent to 0.9 percent.
The yearly climb in September was 13.9 percent, against the corresponding month last year.
The agency’s Census Bureau noted in a report: "gasoline stations were up 38.2% from September 2020, while food services and drinking places were up 29.5% from last year."
