Europe’s imports of Russia’s merchandise increase 50 pct this year in spite of remaining sanctions

(MENAFN) European statistics agency Eurostat declared this week that the value of Russian exports to European nations from in the first eight months hit USD109.7 billion, permitting Russia to stay the third biggest EU exporter.

The volume of Russian exports in the cited period climbed by 48.7 percent against the corresponding period in 2020, reaching USD73.7 billion.

Europe’s top two exporters are China with USD331.6 billion worth of exports, and the United States with USD169.1 billion. The volume of European exports to Russia also climbed in the January-August period of this year, soaring by 13.6 percent to USD66.8 billion.

The EU’s biggest importers in the stated period were the US with USD296.7 billion, the UK with USD211 billion, China with USD170.8 billion, and Switzerland with USD118.2 billion.
