NSDC imposes sanctions on 237 people involved in organizing Russian elections in occupied territories of Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) imposed sanctions on 237 people that were involved in organizing and conducting elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and in Crimea.

NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said this at a briefing on October 15, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"[We have considered] the imposition of personal special economic and other restrictive measures. Today we have approved a decision regarding those people who took part in the voting and who ensured [the relevant] work in Crimea, in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Today sanctions have been applied against another 237 people,” Danilov said.

According to him, the sanctions were imposed mostly against members of election commissions who were directly involved in the organization of the so-called election process in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

As Ukrinform reported, on September 17, the NSDC decided to apply personal restrictive sanctions against 33 candidates for members of Russia's State Duma, who were involved in organizing Russian elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
