US utters sadness to Lebanon over lethal Beirut gunfire


(MENAFN) The US uttered condolences to Lebanon over gun fires that killed many protestors in the capital Beirut.

During a news session, State Department speaker Ned Price stated "We offer our sincerest condolences to the Lebanese people, and those impacted by the tragic loss of life outside the Palace of Justice in Beirut earlier this morning."

Price as well affirmed "We join Lebanese authorities in their call for calm, their calls for de-escalation of tensions."

He added the US faces pressure and the danger of violence against any nation’s judiciary, "and we support Lebanon’s judicial independence."
