(MENAFN) The Turkish leader commended the 98th anniversary of the statement of Ankara as Turkey’s capital.
According to a report by the Directorate of Communications, Recep Tayyip Erdogan "I celebrate the anniversary of the declaration of Ankara as the capital. Ankara, which has assumed historical importance in the struggle against the attempts to invade our homeland with perseverance and determination, is also the center of the establishment and progress of our republic and the development process of democracy."
Erdogan also declared Ankara is going to be an important part in the improvement of Turkey and the progression of Turkish democracy, while admiring Ankara's part in Turkey’s War of Independence and the founding of the state.
The president added "It is of great importance to preserve the cultural identity and historical richness of the capital Ankara..."
