Syria: Soldier killed by Israeli missile assault in Palmyra

(MENAFN) State news agency SANA said in a report that on Wednesday evening, Oct. 13 a Syrian soldier was confirmed dead and another three were injured as a new Israeli missile attack struck Palmyra area in the central province of Homs.

The Israeli warplanes launched missiles from above the al-Tanf area in southern Syria in the direction of Palmyra, aiming at a communication tower and a number of surrounding military posts, stated a military source as quoted by SANA.

The assault is the second this month after one on Oct. 8, aiming at the T-4 airbase in the countryside of Homs.

Israel has frequently aimed at Syrian military positions in the over 10-year war in Syria, arguing that it was aiming at military positions of Iranian-supported militia like the Lebanese Hezbollah and other affiliated outfits.
