British Council appoints new country director in Jordan


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The British Council — the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities — has appointed Summer Xia as Country Director for Jordan and Cluster Lead for the Levant.

Xia will lead the British Council team in building relationships between the UK and Jordan. He will also lead the British Council operation in six countries across the Levant region: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria and Yemen, according to a British Council statement.

Xia has met with several key partners, including then-education minister Mohammad Abu Qudais, and the president of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI), Thafer Y. Assaraira. 

Xia has worked in multiple roles within the British Council and was the British Council's Country Director for Azerbaijan and Regional Higher Education Director for Wider Europe before taking his position in Jordan in September 2021.
