Bangladesh: Nuclear Power Plant to help meet rising power demand

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Bangladesh started installing a major module of its first nuclear power plant.

The day was "very important and historic" as installation efforts started for the vessel in the first reactor building of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP), located in the west of the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared.

The plant would gather with the country's rising electricity needs, as also contributing to its socio-economic development, Hasina added.

The prime minister further declared that "Bangladesh has become a part of the nuclear world. This is for peace, which is very important. Electricity will be generated in the nuclear power plant which will be supplied to every corner and village across the country."
