Saudi Industrial Production Index increases 6.5 percent yearly in August


(MENAFN) Mining and extracting activity carried on to be main factors for the development in the Saudi Industrial Production Index (IPI) that increased yearly by 5.8 percent in August.

Data published by GASTAT reported that the sector's development rose by 6.5 percent YoY in August.

Moreover; non-oil manufacturing indicated a strong improvement of 5 percent in August as electricity and gas supply activity dropped yearly by 4 percent. Nevertheless, electricity and gas supply activities hold a 2.9 percent weight in the index, making its variations less influential on the index's whole rate.

The IPI also increased by 3.6 percent month-on-month in August pushed by a notable 13 percent development in non-oil manufacturing activity.
