Turkey’s FM calls Pakistani counterpart, extends assistance after fatal earthquake


(MENAFN) Turkey’s foreign minister has extended aid to Pakistan after a 5.9 magnitude quake struck the nation’s southwest, leaving a minimum of 20 persons dead.

Mevlut Cavusoglu addressed Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi and expressed his condolences over the deceased, said diplomatic sources.

In the phone call, Cavusoglu also noted that Ankara stands ready to offer all kinds of support to Islamabad.

The earthquake was centered around 14 kilometers north-northeast of Harnai in Baluchistan province. The location is around 100 kilometers from Quetta, the provincial capital.
