China: Online payments carried out in National Day holiday exceeds USD1.55 trl


(MENAFN) China’s online payment clearinghouse NetsUnion and card payment giant China UnionPay recorded an overall of more than 10 trillion yuan (around USD1.55 trillion) of online payments in the weeklong National Day holiday that concluded on Thursday, hitting 2020 records for average daily transaction value and amount of transactions.

NetsUnion processed more than 14 billion transactions coming to about USD1,17 trillion, figures from the platform demonstrate. The average daily number of transactions soared by 20.06 percent, and the average daily transaction value climbed by 20.02 percent.

The average daily transaction value in the movie theater business grew over 60 percent year over year, whereas the average daily number of transactions carried out in the catering industry increased nearly 70 percent from a year ago.

The figures demonstrate that holiday expenditure was centered in catering, lodging, transport, sightseeing, entertainment and shopping.
