(MENAFN) As of Friday, Oct. 8 the Fuling shale gas field in southwest Chinese Chongqing Municipality has produced over 40 billion cubic meters of shale gas, announced the branch at the gas field of Sinopec, China's biggest oil refiner.
The gas field's daily gas production has surged nearly 20 million cubic meters, which can fulfill the energy need of 40 million households.
Shale gas is mostly methane. It is deemed as a kind of clean and fresh energy resource.
The Fuling field, found in 2012, has discovered reserves of 380.6 billion cubic meters of shale gas, as affirmed by the Ministry of Land and Resources.
