The event, which happened on October 6, formed part of a collaborative initiative by the Ministry of Culture and Sports with other local and international entities to celebrate Doha being named 'Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021'. Discussions highlighted how the cultural and academic excellence achieved by Qatar over the years has elevated Doha to become one of the most important cultural cities in the Muslim world.

The webinar's panel featured Dr. Okasha El Daly, head of acquisitions, Qatar University Press; Dr. Haya Al Moadhadi, general director, Etizan Training Center, and consultant at the Ministry of Culture and Sports; and  Maryam Al Hammadi, director-general of the Qatari Forum for Authors, and consultant at the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Speaking after the webinar, Prof. Aisha Yousef Al-Mannai said:“Not only has this dialogue demonstrated HBKU's alignment with Qatar's development vision to advance a sustainable knowledge economy, but it also puts CIS at the forefront of debates shaping the wider Islamic world. HBKU's diverse alumni community of scholars, scientists, writers, and artists are contributing to the positive cultural development of their societies, enabling Qatar to extend its academic and research innovation excellence in the region and further afield. CIS will continue its efforts as a leading higher education institute supporting Qatar in its initiatives to boost the cultural and social development of Muslims across the region and globe.”
