Gov't urged to cancel fees for goods transport at Jaber border crossing

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies on Tuesday called for cancelling fees on trucks transporting goods between Jordan and Syria at the Jaber border crossing.

Deifallah Abu Aqouleh, president of the association, said that imposing fees on loaded trucks, in addition to the other fees of JD200 after cancelling the back-to-back system, resulted in the stoppage of loaded trucks heading to Syria, while other trucks were delayed with "confusing measures", the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Abu Aqouleh urged the relevant Jordanian and Syrian authorities to adopt "clear mechanisms" to facilitate procedures and cancel fees.

He called for re-implementing agreements between the countries, which were satisfying for all parties.
