Clearance companies association calls for waiving fees on Jordan-Syria transport trucks

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) -- The Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies on Tuesday urged the government to waive fees for trucks transporting goods between Jordan and Syria through the Jaber crossing border.
In a statement, the Association's President DaifAllah Abu Aqouleh said that imposing fees, along with an additional JD200 after halting the back-to-back shipment protocol, have held up a number of trucks heading from Jordan to Syria, due to the confusing procedures at the border.
Abu Aqoula called on the relevant Jordanian and Syrian authorities to put in place clear mechanisms that will simplify procedures, cancel fees imposed on trucks, and fully re-implement the memorandum of understanding previously concluded between the two countries, in order to facilitate and enhance the movement of trade exchange.
