São Paulo – Pictures from Morocco will be exhibited inside Brooklin Station of Line 5 (Lilac) of the São Paulo subway from this Saturday (2) until October 31. The exhibition“Morocco – A record of Arab-influenced culture” will have 20 photos portraying the multifaceted Moroccan culture through visual records of homes, food, and everyday scenes. The exhibition is promoted by ViaMobilidade, the concessionaire responsible for operating and maintaining the subway line.

Daily life and the landscape

The images on display were shot by Brazilian photographer Zina Kossoy about two years ago in Morocco, and the exhibition is curated by Vera Simões from Galeria VerArte.“The photographer thinks of photography as an art form, thus being able to bring different perspectives and interpretations,” said Simões in a press release by ViaMobilidade.

The work was based on records of the photographer's impressions of the impact of Arab culture in Morocco, which is separated from Europe by the Strait of Gibraltar and musters European and Berber influences. The photos depict historic cities and monuments, such as the Kasbah of the Udayas, in the capital Rabat, a 12th-century royal fort overlooking the sea.

ViaMobilidade's Communication and Sustainability manager, Juliana Alcides, stated with exhibitions like this, the concessionaire seeks to arouse the curiosity of commuters to learn about new cultures through art. Due to the pandemic, and to avoid crowding, the exhibition can also be seen on ViaMobilidade's Facebook page .
