Arbaeen Processions, Majalis Held in City

SRINAGAR: A number of majalis were held across Kashmir on Tuesday to mark the Arbaeen (Chehlum) of martyrs of Karbala.
Processions were taken out following majalis where zakireen recited classical marsya and Ulema delivered sermons highlighting the significance of Arbaeen and the relevance of message of Imam Hussain (AS) today.
At Sajjadabad Chattabal, Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari dwelt in detail about the spirit behind the uprising of Imam Hussain and his small band of followers which he said infuses vigour among Muslims even after the passage of 1400 years.
Later a Zuljinah procession was taken out from the Astana Babul Hawaij where a copy of the holy Quran written by Imam Musa Kazim is preserved.
At Bemina a large procession was taken out following a grand majlis on the occasion. Agha Syed Hadi Moosavi, president of Anjuman Sharie Shiayan delivered a sermon at the Imambargah Agha Syed Yusuf.
In nearby Budgam a big mourning procession was led by Agha Syed Hassan al Safvi from Mirgund. The procession culminated at Imambargah Budgam.
A large gathering was held at Zaildar Mohalla, Saida Kadal, where Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas Mosavi addressed the mourners.
Later, a procession was taken out from Zaildar Mohalla that passed through different areas before culminating at Imam Bara Hassanabad.
Reports of Arbaeen gatherings were also received from Imam Bara Chattargam, Imam Bara Yagipora Magam, Imam Bara Gamdu Sumbal Sonwari , Sumbal Nougam in Bandipora District Arbaeen related congregations were also held in Baramulla, Pulwama and Anantnag Districts.
However, no Majlis was held at Imam Bara Zadibal in view of the lockdown imposed by the authorities to contain the spread of coronavirus.
