Clearance companies Syndicate values decision to reopen Jaber border

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sep. 28 (Petra) -- President of the Syndicate of Owners of Clearance and Cargo Transport Companies, Dhaifallah Abu Aqoula, praised the Interior Minister's decision to reopen the Jaber border crossing with Syria as of Wednesday morning.
In a statement on Tuesday, Abu Aqoula said that the decision is an important step to revive the two-way trade and tourism movement, reduce the additional costs incurred by traders due to the "back-to- back" shipment system, and facilitate the flow of goods between both countries, Lebanon and the Gulf states.
"Reopening the Jaber border crossing for passengers and freight will encourage Arab Gulf countries to load their goods on Jordanian trucks," he indicated.
Abu Aqoula also renewed his appeals to cancel customs duties imposed on Jordanian and Syrian trucks in order to enhance commercial traffic and transit trade, and to reactivate the memorandum of understanding that previously concluded between the two countries in this regard.
