Kenya: Mobile industry records marginal expansion in Apr.-Jun. period of 2021

(MENAFN) On Monday, Sep. 27 a fresh industry report stated that the amount of mobile phone subscriptions in Kenya expanded 3.9 percent quarter-on-quarter during the April-June period reaching 64.4 million.

This was reflected in a mobile penetration level of 132.2 percent because of the conditions of multiple sim card ownership, according to the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA).

Net additions in mobile subscriptions reached 2.4 million, with the authority ascribing the rise to telecom operators' directed marketing campaigns to draw fresh subscribers to their network, noted the CA.

Business digitization has resulted in augmented implementation of mobile money services as the whole number of active registered mobile money subscriptions surged by 4.7 percent to come in at 34.7 million, said the regulator.
