He's not there on holiday, He's there to win trophies - Gabby Agbonlahor advised Manchester United to make the most of Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Manchester United to make the most of Cristiano Ronaldo during his second stint with the club.

Speaking to TalkSPORT (via Manchester Evening News ), Agbonlahor believes that it will be a waste if United finishes second or third without a single piece of silverware to their name.

“Ronaldo is not there for three, four, or five seasons. He’s not there on holiday. He’s there to win trophies. He wants to win the Champions League with Manchester United. They want to win the league. If it comes to the end of the season and they finish second or third – and don’t win a trophy – that’s like a season gone with Ronaldo there, isn’t it?”

Gabriel Agbonlahor has also urged the Manchester United board to sack current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and replace him with the former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. The Chelsea Manager has previously won the Premier League at Stamford Bridge and the Serie A title with Inter Milan last season.

“I just don't think Ole's the man, if that was [Antonio] Conte he'd be like okay Ronaldo is on the penalty, you haven't got and if you don't like it Fernandes come and sit with me, Ole doesn't have that pull. If I was Manchester United now, Chelsea did it with Lampard, got rid of a club legend, and brought in Tuchel, and look what happened. Man United needs to now take Ole out of it, give him a job in the board, bring in Conte and he will get the best out of these players,” he told TalkSPORT.

Manchester United has lost three out of their last four games

The five-time ballon D’or winner has scored four goals in as many games so far in his second stint with United. United made a positive start to the season by defeating Newcastle United in their first game. But since then, Red Devils have now lost three of their last four games in all competitions. They lost to BSC Young Boys in the Champions League, against West Ham in the Carabao Cup, and then to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

In his last season with Manchester United, Ronaldo won his last Premier League title before joining Real Madrid. United have not lifted the Premier League title since Ferguson retired. So, this could be the season for them to change their fortunes. And if United managed to win the title this year, then Ronaldo will become the first Manchester United player to win Premier League under two managers.

In his first spell for Manchester United, The Portugal star spent six seasons at Old Trafford from 2003-2009. Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games. He won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2007/08, the season he helped the Red Devils claim their last UEFA Champions League title. Ronaldo has claimed eight trophies including three Premier League titles plus the Ballon d'Or with Red Devils.
