Yemen: Intense clashes leave 44 dead in Marib


(MENAFN) A military official said to Xinhua that on Sunday, Sep. 26 intense clashes hit several areas of the Yemeni oil-rich northern province of Marib amidst intensified air raids.

The local military source stated on condition of remaining anonymous: "more than 28 members of the Houthi rebel group and 16 soldiers of the pro-government Yemeni forces were killed during the past 24 hours in Marib's fighting."

He noted that the Houthi fighters conducted simultaneous assaults against a number of locations controlled by the pro-government forces in the southern and northwestern areas of Marib.

He explained that the Houthis utilized explosive-laden drones and missile assaults to aim at the pro-government forces located in Marib.
