Iraqi issues arrest warrants for participants in meeting to normalize ties with Israel

(MENAFN) Iraqi issued detention warrants for three Iraqi members in a meeting calling for the normalizing relations with Israel, a suggestion that was declined by the Iraqi government.

In a statement the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council stated that the three that issued arrest warrants in court in Baghdad were tribal leader Wisam al-Hardan, former lawmaker Mithal al-Alousi, and Sahar Kareem al-Taie.

The three were present in what the Iraqi government called an "illegal meeting" held two days ago by some Iraqi tribal figures and individuals in Erbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.

The judicial council is going to apply legal measures against the other members in the Erbil assembly once the authorities obtained their full names, it added.
