(MENAFN) Certain Western countries’ worries about the progress of Iran's nuclear program were "unfounded," Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated.

As the Western signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, are demanding Iran’s return to the talks table immediately.

IRNA news agency quoted Abdollahian, who is in New York to participate at the annual UN General Assembly meeting as saying that "The European parties are interested in Iran returning to the talks."

The official further declared that "One of their concerns is that they think we have broken some of our commitments to the JCPOA during the steps we have taken."
