U.S.: Passenger train derailment leaves 3 killed


(MENAFN) Local media said in a report that on Sunday afternoon, Sep. 26 a passenger train with more than 100 people aboard derailed in the northern U.S. state of Montana, leaving over three persons dead and wounding several others.

The Amtrak's Empire Builder train moving between Seattle and Chicago derailed at approximately 4 p.m. local time (2200 GMT). A report by Amtrak read that there were around 147 passengers and 13 crew members on the train at the time of the incident.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office said to local media that the precise number of the wounded is unidentified, further saying that all the other passengers have been safely sent away.

Amtrak is a passenger railroad service firm running a lot of passenger rail routes in the country.
