Fatal suicide car explosion leaves many deaths in Somali capital


(MENAFN) According to police, a suicide car explosion which was aimed at a safety checkpoint close to the presidential palace killed many people in Somalia's capital.

A police officer in Mogadishu, Abdi Hassan Mohamed, informed Anadolu Agency on the phone "There are multiple casualties from the attack but we don't know exactly how many people have been killed or wounded."

Minivan driver and observers Guuled Ibrahim said to Anadolu Agency that he had observed many people died during the accident.

Ibrahim added "The explosion was huge. After the blast occurred, there was gunfire. Minutes later, we rushed to the scene and it was horrific, with a lot of confusion."
