(MENAFN) Japan pushed for a “free and open international order based on the rule of law,” and emphasized that peace would not be confirmed globally through power-use.
According to Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga during a prerecorded video speech to the UN General Assembly “We must uphold universal values such as freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law that our predecessors have established to maintain peace and prosperity in each region and in the world.”
“I am convinced that the foundation of this undertaking is not force, but a free and open international order.”
In addition, Suga, who is going to resign as a prime minister in October, underlined the significance of a “free and open Indo-Pacific.”
