Deputizing for King, PM inaugurates 35th Jerash festival


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jerash, Sept. 22 (Petra) -- Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, on Wednesday evening inaugurated the 35th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts.
The Prime Minister lit the torch of the festival, marking the launch of its events, as the festival returned this year following a forced absence last year due to the COVID pandemic.
Head of the festival's Higher Committee and Minister of Culture, Ali Al-Ayed, said that the return of the Jerash Festival is a return to joy and shine, and a return to delights after a long absence. "This festival, which enshrines traditions and high creative values, is one of the important levers in the Jordanian cultural landscape since its establishment a hundred years ago."
Head of the Greater Jerash Municipality Committee, a member of the festival's higher committee, Hamad Al-Karazneh, said that the return of the Jerash Festival reflects Jordan's recovery from the pandemic and its people support to the Hashemite leadership
The festival features music and dance performances by artists from Jordan, the Arab region and the rest of the world.
