Dr Ana Estefanía Carballo is a Research Fellow in Mining and Society at the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Her research interests focus on the interplay between indigenous epistemologies, human and environmental development ethics and the way they underscore environmental conflicts in Latin America, particularly those associated to natural resources governance. Her current project explores the imaginaries of energy transition in the lithium industry in South America, and the way they can become a bridge to connect those in the Global South and Global North in the efforts to achieve a zero-carbon future.
