Minister urges uplift of maritime transport sector


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept 21 (Petra) –– Transport Minister Wajeeh Azayzeh said Tuesday that Jordan should keep pace with the global developments in the maritime transport industry as a vital sector and a mainstay of the national economy.
The minister met with members of the Maritime Public-Private Partnership Committee to discuss a number of issues and proposals related to maritime transport, and the importance of its development, sustainability and the need to update its systems and procedures as well as proposals to keep abreast of global advancements in maritime transport business.
Technology and digitization and training plans for workers in maritime transport as well as emergency and safety procedures were also tackled during the meeting, which was attended by key officials and stakeholders, including the Customs Department Director, the Royal Naval Force Commander, the Aqaba Development Company CEO, the Maritime Authority chief and representatives from the Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
