(MENAFN) Florence Parly, French Defense Minister organized what she labeled as a “frank discussion” with her Malian Defense Minister days following Paris rang a bell to the West African state against employing Russian private security company Wagner.
The French Defense Minister reached Mali after announcements showing France’s armed administration are near to stop a contract for 1,000 armed forces.
The minister, whom declared she was paying a visit to the country to repeat her government's disagreement to Wagner, confirmed France’s “unwavering support” in battling against violence in Mali and the Sahel.
Following a summit with Mali's Defense Minister Sadio Camara, she informed the media “For eight years, France, at the request of the Malian authorities, has chosen to support Mali in the fight against armed terrorist groups. France has chosen to unite its partners around a common vision with and for Mali” and said that their talks were “frank, direct and complete,” Parly on the other hand continued that “We will not be able to cohabit with mercenaries.”
