Cement companies in Egypt to return to operating with natural gas fuels instead of coal

(MENAFN) According to Head of Industrials Sector at the Arab African International Securities Company, Rehan Hamza, cement companies in Egypt aim to return to operating with natural gas fuels instead of coal, following seven years of the government’s decision to force companies to use a mixture of fuels from coal and waste.

Rehan Hamza further declared that the remaining pumping of natural gas, and the increase in coal prices, are going to be guarantors of a stable return for cement factories in Egypt to be dependent on natural gas.

The official also stated that the Export Council for Building Materials arranged technical studies on the economic feasibility of cement factories returning to work with natural gas considering rising coal prices to record levels, as well as the high cost of shipping and import, and the plenty of local natural gas.
